DERMAPEN MICRONEEDLING – All You Need to Know!

DERMAPEN MICRONEEDLING – All You Need to Know!

Dermapen Microneedling is a skin micro-needling treatment that requires minimum downtime, which promotes scarless healing and the production of natural collagen in the skin. It is used to improve the appearance of scars, acne or acne scaring, stretch marks, fine lines, wrinkles, pigmentation, pore minimisation and the overall rejuvenation of the skin. Unlike the traditional method of microneedling using a roller, the dermapen method uses different depths of needles making it easier to treat like one’s forehead and nose.

How Does It Work?

The procedure is a minimally invasive and non-surgical skin rejuvenating technique. It requires the use of an automated medical device, known as the dermapen microneedling device, which contains many tiny sterile needles. This creates microchannels in the skin which increases the stimulation of circulation and natural collagen production in the treated area, which is what helps to reduce the appearance of scar tissue on the treated skin.

These needles penetrate the skin at various levels depending on the area being treated, the depth of the scar or the condition being treated. This extra production of collagen provides the skin with additional support and helps to improve the overall health and quality of the skins. Overtime, this treatment helps to tighten skin, improve scars, fine likes and wrinkles while also aiding the adsorption of nutrients or skincare products. As the dermapen microneedling process is fast, it doesn’t damage the dermal layer of the skin.

Benefits of Dermapen Microneedling

Aside from its main anti-aging and scar reducing benefits, dermapen microneedling has numerous other benefits:

  • Stimulates collagen production
  • Treats fine lines
  • Improves skin texture
  • Reduces the appearance of enlarged pores
  • Tightens the skin
  • Enables the skin to absorb products more efficiently.
  • Stimulates circulation
  • Improves overall skin health

Is Dermapen Microblading Painful?

Overall, the dermapen microblading treatment isn’t painful, one may experience a minor discomfort during the skin needling but a numbing cream can be applied to the skin to reduce any discomfort or pain. Depending on the individual and the area being treated it is possible to experience some pinpoint bleeding during the treatment, but this is not on-going. In addition, you may find temporary redness of the skin for a couple of hours or a day again depending on the individual and the area being treated. This redness generally heels up quickly, however if you experience prolonged discomfort, it is advised that you contact the therapist that performed the treatment.

Are results instant? How many treatments are required?

Most individuals see a noticeable improvement in the texture and tone of their skin after a single dermapen microneedling treatment. However, the full effects of the skin treatment usually develop over a few weeks after your treatment. The condition of your skin continues to improve for up to six months following the treatment, as the new collagen develops.

The number of treatment sessions required to achieve the best possible results can vary and differ between individuals, depending on their goals and the condition or area being treated. Generally, a series of three to six treatments is recommended, spaced between four to six weeks apart. However, some individuals may benefit from a single treatment of dermapen microneedling once or twice a year to improve the overall health of the skin and enhance their skincare regimen.
