What is a Lash Lift?

A lash lift is an all-natural, semi-permanent treatment that gives the appearance of fuller, thicker natural lashes without the use of any leave-on extensions. It boosts the natural lashes from the root, giving them a lifted and lengthened appearance. It’s a bit like a perm for your eyelashes, giving the same effect as using an eyelash curler and it is suitable for all types of eyelashes no matter the length or shape.

Essentially a lash lift curls your lash from the base to tip, revealing the full length. As all lashes have a natural shape, the process of a lash lift alters that shape using a curling rod and lifting solution. The treatment should always be performed by a licensed professional. A lash lift often includes a lash tint, in order darken the natural lashes and increase the effect of the treatment.

What does the Lash Lift Treatment Involve?

Firstly, most salons will require a patch test for a lash lift, 24-48 hours prior to the treatment. To begin the treatment the therapist will cleanse the eye area and place a silicone rod onto the eyelids. This silicone rod or shield is what is used to curl the lashes, the natural lashes are attached to the rod using adhesive to set the lashes in place. Once everything is positioned correctly, a lifting lotion is then applied, this allows the lashes to mould around the curling rod. This is followed by a neturalising lotion that sets the lash shape. If tinting is included this will be the last step of the lash lift. In general, the entire treatment should take around 45 to 60 minutes in total.

How Long Does a Lash Lift Last?

Typically, the results from a lash lift last four to six weeks, however this will depend on how quickly your eyelashes grow. It’s a very low maintenance lash treatment, meaning your can use your normal makeup, like mascara and makeup remover over the lashes. Although it is important to keep your eyelashes out of contact from makeup or water for 24 hours after the treatment. This is to ensure the lift sets correctly into shape. It is also recommended to avoid mascara for 48 hours after the treatment, then you are free to fully enjoy the treatment’s results.
